HOW DO I GET THE BEST ANTI-FOG EXPERIENCE WITH THE SMP MASK?
For the best performance, please follow the steps below:
1) Always start with the SMP manual.
Follow the setup instructions carefully to ensure the mask is used exactly as intended.
2) Allow the mask to acclimatize before use.
Avoid sudden temperature changes. Give the mask a moment to adjust so moisture doesn’t condense instantly on the lens.
3) Make sure the mask fits snugly and firmly against your face.
Think of it like a diving mask—if it doesn’t seal properly, water gets in.
Or like a freezer door—if it’s slightly open, it will not stay cold.
Ensure the nose pad rests comfortably on your nasal bridge, and that the facepad seals evenly all around.
This prevents warm breath from escaping upward toward the lens, which is the main cause of fogging when temperatures differ between inside and outside the mask.
The head strap should be tight enough to keep the mask stable during movement, but not so tight that it becomes uncomfortable. A proper seal between the goggle section and your facepad is essential for clear, fog-free vision.
4) Always use a fully charged SMP powerbank or battery pack.
A weak or low-quality power source reduces airflow, which can significantly increase fogging.
5) Make sure the fan can breathe freely.
Your helmet should never press against the fan. Leave enough space above it so the fan can pull in fresh air without restriction.
6) Use the SMP Airflow Insert for maximum performance.
The center is closed, and the airflow is directed through the side vents toward both corners of the lens—exactly where fogging starts. This design provides the most effective anti-fog results.
7) Turn the fan on 2 minutes before starting your game.
This stabilizes the temperature inside the mask and helps prevent initial fog buildup.
8) If you sweat heavily, consider using a thin balaclava.
This prevents sweat from entering the goggle area during intense gameplay.
9) Clean your lens only with the SMP Optic Cleaner (included).
A greasy or dirty lens fogs up much faster. Keep it clean for the best clarity.
10) Still experiencing moisture in extreme conditions?
A step-up cable can slightly increase the fan’s power to improve airflow.
WHY SMP WORKS — WHERE OTHER ANTI-FOG SOLUTIONS REACH THEIR LIMITS
SMP is designed to work where other solutions reach their limits.
SMP is designed to perform in all conditions.
Not by delaying fog — but by preventing it at the source.
SMP actively manages all fog-causing factors:
-
moisture
-
breath
-
sweat
-
humidity
-
airflow
That is why SMP performs reliably:
-
indoors and outdoors
-
in summer and winter
-
during high-intensity gameplay
-
for heavy sweaters
🌪️ The key difference: active airflow
Fogging is rarely caused by temperature alone.
In real airsoft conditions, fog mainly comes from:
-
breath rising from the lower face
-
sweat and skin moisture
-
trapped humid air behind a mask
SMP uses active airflow to:
-
remove moisture before it can condense
-
keep air moving across the lens surface
-
prevent condensation from forming
Airflow doesn’t delay fog — it removes the cause.
Comparable example:
Think of a car windshield.
Heating the glass may reduce condensation temporarily, but fresh airflow from the ventilation system is what actually clears the moisture.
The principle is the same:
👉 moving air removes humidity — heat alone does not.
🔍 Thermal anti-fog: where it works — and where it doesn’t
Thermal (dual-pane or heated) lenses do work, and we have tested them ourselves.
They work well for:
-
goggle-only use
-
low to moderate intensity activity
-
situations where temperature difference is the main issue
Thermal lenses reduce fog through insulation, not ventilation.
However, when combined with:
-
a face mask
-
heavy movement
-
sweat
-
high humidity
thermal systems can still develop fog or condensation, because moisture is not removed.
⚠️ Important limitation of thermal systems
Thermal anti-fog relies on a wire or heating element in or on the lens.
If this wire:
-
gets damaged
-
bends
-
breaks
➡️ the anti-fog function stops completely.
Comparable to a rear-window heating strip or RFID track:
once the circuit is broken, it cannot be repaired.
This means thermal systems have a single point of failure inside the lens itself.
🔧 Fully modular — build SMP your way
SMP is a fully modular, all-in-one system.
Use it:
-
with or without a face mask
-
indoors or outdoors
-
with headstrap or helmet setup
-
with different power sources and airflow configurations
No fixed setup.
No one-size-fits-all solution.
You configure SMP to match your environment and playstyle.
📦 Complete packages — no hidden extras
Both SMP BASIC and SMP PRO include everything needed to run the system properly.
-
no additional purchases required
-
no missing components
More control.
More flexibility.
Better value.
🔒 Safety first — protected power supply
A powerbank contains battery cells and should never be exposed to direct BB impact.
That’s why SMP:
-
places the power supply in a protected pouch
-
keeps electronics away from the lens and impact zone
-
avoids heated wiring inside the lens
Following the same safety principles used for radios and tactical electronics.
🎯 Bottom line
Thermal anti-fog works well for goggle-only use and low-intensity activity.
SMP actively removes moisture and manages all fog-causing factors, making it effective:
-
with or without a face mask
-
indoors and outdoors
-
during intense gameplay
-
across all seasons
Not marketing.
Just physics.

CAN I WEAR THE SMP MASK TOGETHER WITH A HELMET?
Yes, you can — but the fit and airflow may vary for each person depending on the helmet type.
Make sure that the fan unit has enough space to draw in air properly. Airflow can be restricted if a helmet cover blocks the fan intake or if the helmet presses directly against the fan housing.
The mask and fan need to “breathe” freely for optimal performance.
If you notice your helmet pressing on the fan or reducing airflow, use a Helmet Spacer (part #54). This ensures the fan always works efficiently, even during longer or more intense use.
WHERE CAN I FIND THE SMP MANUAL?
Always follow our manual for the best experience and results!
HOW LONG DOES THE BATTERY BANK (4PCS AAA) LAST?
Always know that a battery bank with 4pcs AAA will drop voltage over time. The powerbank does not have this matter and keeps stable on 5 volt (the best performance for the anti fog fan). We always advise to change the batteries after 10 hours of using it to be sure. But the lifetime of the batteries really depends on the brand and conditions of the batteries. You can check this page to get a better view of the lifetime.
CAN I USE OTHER POWERBANKS?
No – We really recommend the SMP power bank for the best performance and results for the mask. This has to do with the different types of power banks on the market and their unique properties. Our power bank is made for the requirements and performances of the SMP mask.
HOW TO ASSEMBLY/ DISASSEMBLY THE SMP POWERBANK?
Always follow the instructions in below manual step for step for assembly or in reverse for disassembly our powerbank.
WHICH COLOUR LENS DO I USE IN WHICH CIRCUMSTANCES?
When do you use which color lens?
Transparent:
This has the advantage that you can see everything well of course, even in low light. So always a good choice!
Yellow or orange lenses:
When the sun is shining brightly, it is nice when this is dimmed a bit more and it has the advantage that you can still see enough with less light. These colored lenses are especially suitable for low light and indoor skirmishes or training.
Dark lenses:
When the sun is shining, this is of course very nice and can be compared to sunglasses.
Note that when you use this indoors, you will see a lot less.
CAN I LOOK THROUGH MY SCOPE WHEN WEARING THE SMP MASK?
Yes – the SMP mask is designed to allow proper aiming and scope use. However, depending on your gear setup, some users may experience slight difficulty aligning their eye perfectly with the scope.
This varies per person and depends on:
-
Your body positioning and shooting stance
-
The height and eye relief of your scope
-
The stock type of your replica
✅ Solution:
If you’re experiencing discomfort while scoping, we recommend trying a 0-degree drop stock adapter. This accessory slightly lowers the stock alignment, improving eye-to-scope positioning – especially popular in Airsoft setups. SMP can provide this drop stock adapter and have it for sale in the webshop (screws not included).
With proper adjustment and positioning, the SMP mask can be used comfortably with most optics.
